I have read many books that have inspired me and Whispering Wind aka Shirley Estes’s "Inside the Tepee Looking Up" is another one I will look to when I need inspiration. Her insightful artistic talents are displayed not only in her writing, but also in the sensitive touch in her drawings. Her insightful writing touches human nature in ways not many can see, but knowing her, I see how it comes from her love and respect for Native American people. Thank you my friend for sharing your heart and talent with us.

My friend Shirley, has been active for many years in helping to bring a message of clarity, hope and love to our First Nations people. It has been an honor to have been a part of several gatherings with her over the years and I look forward to our paths crossing many more times as we walk out our visions together. I personally look forward to the release of her book Inside the Tepee Looking Up with much anticipation as I know the heart of the writer.

As the psalmist writes, ‘Deep calls unto deep’ Shirley’s writing served as a call for me to journey into the deeper places of my soul where I previously always felt like a bucking bull in a china shop. Shirley’s creative writing not only inspired and empowered my soul, it caused me to recognize the beauty of my soul. I finally recognize it as a place of God’s continuous and beautiful restorative work. The reading experience was like sitting at the feet of eternal Wisdom as my Restorer’s voice did His work.

As I searched for words to express Shirley Estes’s Inside the Tepee Looking Up,  illustrated with her own powerful artwork, “profound and poetic” seemed the most descriptive of this collection of her life experiences and views of the world. It sometimes took my breath away. It also caused this reader to re-examine her own perspectives on life through the prism of a different motif.          Inside the Tepee offers many reasons to keep looking up in faith that everything is in our Creator’s hands, and this quote from  Estes’s work sums it best:        “Bodies can be captured and contained but, a soul’s soaring freedom is unstoppable.”         Inside the Tepee Looking Up is not only eye-catching a on a coffee table, its contents, a reader will want to reflect on more than  once!
